We’re building a mobile app to help users monitor and optimize their home solar systems in real time. We need an intuitive interface that clearly shows energy flow, power levels, and environmental impact without overwhelming the user.
CTO, SolarEdge
SolarEdge - Solar Panel Monitoring SaaS Mobile App project helps homeowners track solar performance, battery health, and energy usage. The goal was to create a seamless mobile experience that supports informed energy decisions and lowers consumption costs.

Many solar apps confuse users with cluttered data, unclear metrics, and no real-time insights. Users struggle to understand energy flow, battery status, and overall system performance efficiently.
Fragmented Energy Data
Users struggle to get a clear overview of solar production vs. consumption in one place.
Poor Feedback on Efficiency
Battery status and environmental benefits aren’t visualized well, leading to reduced user engagement.
Confusing Navigation
Switching between solar, grid, and battery sources is often unclear, making real-time analysis difficult.
We began with research into solar tech use cases and interviewed users to understand what metrics matter most. We mapped key flows, emphasizing data visualization, battery optimization insights, and streamlined navigation.
Our objective was to build a mobile-first dashboard that simplifies how users interpret and act on solar data. We prioritized clarity around energy sources, power trends, and environmental impact to enhance retention and decision-making.
Live Monitoring
Visualize how solar, grid, and battery sources power the home with real-time, easy-to-read data.
Eco Insight
Display CO₂ savings and solar usage through minimal visuals that encourage daily awareness and motivation.
We collected behavioral data and direct user feedback during the early testing phase of the SolarEdge - Solar Panel Monitoring SaaS Mobile App example to identify gaps in energy visibility, usability, and engagement across solar, grid, and battery monitoring.
61% Of users want centralized metrics
Description: Most users preferred viewing battery level, solar output, and grid usage in one panel to reduce switching friction.
44% Feel unclear about eco impact
Description: Users found it difficult to see how much CO₂ they saved or how efficiently their panels worked over time.
We designed a unified dashboard that visualizes current power sources (solar, grid, battery), real-time kW flow, and environmental benefits. UI improvements focus on glanceable insights, modular panels, and simplified graph interaction to boost usability.
We focused on translating system performance into visual elements that users can act on, less about raw data, more about usable insight

The SolarEdge - Solar Panel Monitoring SaaS Mobile App ui / ux design improved energy visibility and user engagement. Retention rates increased as users better understood their solar savings and system status at a glance.
+39% Feature usage
Features like “Driven on Sunshine” and power breakdown panels were accessed more frequently.
+42% Engagement rate
Users interacted more often with live energy data after simplifying visual graphs and metrics.
We’re now exploring integrations for smart home devices and want to create a tablet-friendly adaptive version of the SolarEdge to support more energy-conscious users.
