Strategic Plan

Design decisions from the inside

  • Our team focuses on innovation by building intelligent trading tools that analyze and support better decision-making. The motivation behind our design choices is to achieve a trading space that feels 1) alive, 2) welcoming and 3) safe.
We aim at the user - starting from their needs and wants, we path our way down to the solutions that you see presented before your own eyes.

How do you do user research in UX?

Researching for user insights

  • The team had ran UX user research. During the UX research, we uncovered critical pain points traders experience while navigating the platform. Most of said pain points were connected to the usability issues and the complexity of the platform, which felt intimidating.

We combined interviews with numbers in our UX research platform analysis to better understand what users need to trade confidently and quickly.

Discoveries Before the Work Began

  • Most trading platforms face the same issue - the charts and panels are too complex, the data is all meshed together, there is no clarity and accessbility for the new and inexperienced user. Despite TradingView having quite a complex trading interface, it did not offer the comfort of collaborative work, multitasking or quick jumps between panels. We asked the users, and here is what they said:

  • 84% of users

Said they struggle to manage multiple charts efficiently during active trading sessions. This indicates a need for better multi-chart synchronization and streamlined layout options.

  • 49% of respondents

Reported difficulty identifying trends quickly on complex charts. Improving visual clarity and integrating AI-powered insights could significantly reduce decision-making time.

  • 64% of users

Want more collaborative features, especially for sharing insights. They rely on screenshots and external chats to discuss charts with peers. This disconnect reduces the platform’s potential as a social trading hub. Real-time commenting and co-analysis could unlock deeper engagement.

User Interviews UX Research

Detailed analysis of trader profiles

  • In the TradingView - Platform for Trading project, we did detailed research on important users who actively engage with the platform. One example is Ivy Bennett. She is an independent day trader. She uses quick insights and precise tools to make fast trading decisions.

We watched how Ivy used the platform and gathered feedback. This helped us find the platform's strengths and main usability issues.

  • Why Tracking User Behavior?

Creating a trader profile based on real user behavior is a transformative step in user research, which takes it froom just hypothesis to real observation-based result.

  • TradingView gives me the speed and flexibility I need, but managing multiple setups could be smoother.

Challenges faced

  • 01

    Multi-chart layouts are not manageable.

  • 02

    Lack of automatic signal filtering.

  • 03

Manual watchlist updates slow down workflow - therefore, trading is under risk.

User Discussions & Insights

How the Feedback Drives Creation of New Features

  • Collecting direct input from traders enabled us to align information architecture decisions with real trading needs. We used structured interviews and platform usage analysis.

This helped us find out which updates made the biggest improvements. We also learned how easily users adapted to the new experience. By doing that, we could perfecly adapt to the users' needs, and make the platform convenient enough to be used on a daily basis.

How the Redesign Reflected in User Feedback

  • To make sure that the changes we made are substantial and are appreciated by the users, we ran a quick questionnaire among the TradingView users. It was important to get the opinions of the users as most of the changes we made were aimed at easing trading for said users, make their lifestyle more convenient and their trading more enjoyable and productive.

  • 77% - Improved Chart Control

Users said streamlined layouts made it easier to manage multiple indicators and charts without overwhelming the screen.

  • 68% - Smarter Alert Setup

Most respondents appreciated the simplified alert system, helping them respond faster to key market movements.

  • 6h 05min - Quick Adaptation

Traders became familiar with the updated tools in just over six hours, confirming strong usability across experience levels.

Problem and solution

How we approached the biggest problem in TradingView

  • Traders often face obstacles in TradingView - Platform for Trading example with cluttered interfaces that slow down analysis and decision-making. These issues include limited customization, inefficient alert systems, and overly complex chart management tools.

  • Traders struggle with overloaded dashboards, making it hard to analyze markets and act on signals in real time.

How Our Solutions Affected TradingView

  • To address the challenges traders face with overloaded dashboards, we solved key pain points through a more streamlined, intelligent interface. By simplifying chart control and optimizing alert workflows, the goal was to support faster, more confident trading decisions.

To address the challenges traders face with overloaded dashboards, we focused on solving key pain points through a more streamlined, intelligent interface. By simplifying chart control and optimizing alert workflows, the goal was to support faster, more confident trading decisions:

  • 01 - Performance Boost

Enhanced load speeds and chart responsiveness, particularly for complex strategies with multiple indicators and overlays.

  • 02 - Collaboration

Enabled real-time chart sharing and commenting to support peer collaboration and improve decision-making through shared insights.

System Usability Score

Boosting usability testing ux research

  • How do you know if a trading interface actually works? We measured what matters: Can traders spot opportunities faster, configure alerts without errors, and manage multiple markets simultaneously? Testing with 200+ active users revealed the redesign cut chart setup time by 26%, reduced alert configuration errors by 31%, and increased real-time data access speed by 34%, translating to measurably faster decision-making under market pressure.

  • Speed Without Complexity - TradingView's Biggest Achievement

The data revealed a correlation between System Usability Score and decision-making confidence.

The user satisfation of 85 and higher came from traders who experienced faster interactions with the platform. It proves that usability improvements directly affect trading experience.

Traders also reported smoother experience on desktop, which is linked to the platform's innate nature - multi-tasking and speedy interfaces are more achieable on PCs.

Typography and color

Visual Representation Rooted in Success

  • TradingView's redesigned identity is not only displyed through its high usability, but through its interface as well.

Whule developing a design syste, we had to keep in mind the diversity of the screen sizes users would use the platform on, which then determined the visual hierarchy, representation and information display.

We built a scalable visual identity grounded in three requirements: 1) legibility (speedy decisions), 2) information density without chaos, and 3) consistency.

  • Typography Optimized for Speed and Visual Appeal

IBM Plex Mono, chosen for superior number differentiation, is critical for when traders can scan price data.

Since the font has monospaced structure, it prevents misreading, say, $1,234.56 as $12,34.56.

Secondary Typeface, Inter Variable, handles all UI labels, buttons and narrative text. Why? For speedy loads. The variable font technology allows precise weight adjustments (from 300 to 700) without loading multiple files - reducing page load by 180KB compared to static font families.

  • Color System - Semantic and High-Contrast

Finance and trading interfaces have unique color constraints: green for gains, red for losses. The pallette we built was created for clarity first, not forgetting aesthetics.

Traditional bright green (#00ff00) and red (#ff0000) create eye strain during long trading sessions. That is why we reduced color saturation by 18% to reduce irritation, therefore increase usability. We shifted color tones to maintain semantic meaning while reducing visual fatigue.

User testing showed 23% longer viewing time with the changed pallette.

  • Dominating Dark Theme

Due to the nature of the craft, traders massively prefer darker interfaces. Our redesigned panel involves a color scheme ranging from darker to more lighter grays, which all stay within the frame of a dark theme, but portray depth when it comes to displaying cards and interacting elements.

  • The design system isn't decoration 0 it's infrastructure that makes complex financial data comprehensible at a glance.

Landing page

Design that drives engagement

  • When developing the landing page for the new platform experience, we aimed not only to showcase key features but also to create an interface that captures trader interest and builds trust.

The goal of the landing page is to deliver clear, focused information about the platform’s tools, performance advantages and user benefits.

Mobile-First Trading: Designing for Decisions on the Move

  • TradingView's mobile challenge was not in the screen size, but in the context. Traders have to constantly check prices from anywhere - and the interface had taccount for that and support real trading decisions and not just monitoring.

This became a unique challenge for us, as most trading features require bigger screen sizes, so mobile redesign development prioritized thumb-zone architecture. Critical actions are set within natural reach, and secondary controls are moed to gesture-based navigation - swipes and long presses.

We focused on performance and coming from point A to point B in the fastest way. Load time was reduced from 4.2 to 1.8 seconds by lazy-loading chart indicators and progressive image rendering.

  • As a result...

Mobile task completion dropped by 26% - from 42 seconds to 31 seconds. Mobile rading volume skyrocketed - traders were actually confident in the interface and were using it with ease.

Key Features

More In-Depth Changes to Mobile Version

    • Mobile Market Monitoring

The team created an easier way to track live charts, market data, and how well assets are doing. Traders can quickly check price movements, trends, and their positions even when they're out. This makes them more aware and able to react faster.

    • Smart Alerts & Notifications

The app allows users to set and manage custom alerts with ease. Real-time push notifications ensure traders never miss critical price points, news events, or technical triggers.

    • Watchlist & Asset Management

Users can create and adjust watchlists directly from their mobile devices. Assets are displayed with their price, change, and key statistics. This allows for quick scanning and portfolio adjustments without needing the desktop version.
