2.7k+ users and a 67% stability index in 2 months — that's the result TripAI got from this ai travel assistant project. TripAI, a New York-based SaaS company, needed a travel ai platform to replace manual planning with one automated system for both individual and corporate travelers. Before design started, ux research mapped real user behavior: 67% of users already had experience with AI tools, 54% were unhappy with traditional planning methods, and 81% wanted smart booking built directly into their trip planning tools. Those numbers set the direction for the entire product.

Rondesignlab built the ai travel agent around that demand — automated ai trip planning, cost tracking, and trip reporting, unified in one dashboard for desktop and mobile. The work spanned 7 sprints and 21 screens over 2 months, backed by a clear brand system (Outfit and Lufga typefaces, a grey-white base with yellow and green accents) to make the AI feel trustworthy rather than gimmicky.

The outcome: confirmed product-market fit and real digital transformation for TripAI, with the team now scoping multi-platform expansion and ongoing feature development to keep pace with growth.

About the project

The AI Travel Assistant project helps optimize travel for individuals and teams. As a SaaS tool, it automates planning, cost tracking, and trip reporting. This AI Travel Assistant UX/UI design example focuses on usability and business efficiency.

At its core, the AI travel assistant answers itinerary questions corporate travelers and individual planners ask in almost the same words. The system uses travel ai to parse those intents, generate options, and reconcile them against calendars, budgets, and team policy.

The design brief covers the full journey of ai trip planning, from the moment a user enters a destination through the ranked suggestions, booking flow, and post-trip reporting layer where finance teams close the loop.

For teams, the platform functions as an ai travel agent that never mishandles a policy exception. Approvals route themselves, budgets update in real time, and trip reports write themselves out of the same data the booking used, which is the piece most corporate travel software still fails to deliver. What this case documents is what happens when AI stops behaving like a browsing marketplace and starts behaving like operational infrastructure inside a category that has been overdue for the shift.
