95% of client requests met. See how the Airbus helicopter configurator earned it:
- Buyer signal. 7 of 10 buyers stall on personalization, so the interface treats every choice as guided, not offered.
- Design scope. A plane configurator engineered across 19 screens and 8 sprints for ACH helicopter customization on desktop and mobile.
- Market fit. Corporate helicopter clients, private owners, and government fleets converged inside one plane design journey they finish without hesitation.
About the project
The Airbus Configurator allows users to personalize their helicopter, offering a seamless design journey with premium materials and innovative avionics.
Behind that promise sits an unusual buyer. Private owners spending on comfort and exclusivity, government fleets ordering for rescue and transport, corporate clients running executive travel, and VIP charter operators. Four audiences with different budgets, different missions, and one thing in common: they don't tolerate friction in a purchase that runs into the tens of millions. Our design work started from that specific commercial reality and moved outward.
The build spanned research through prototype across 8 sprints, mapping 19 screens for desktop and mobile use of the ACH helicopter customization flow. Every design choice was tested against a question borrowed from the interviews: can a buyer make a decision here without asking someone in aviation to translate it. That principle shaped the visualization approach, the material selection library, and the way pricing surfaces beside every configuration change so nothing hides until checkout.

Underneath the interface, Lufga typography and a restrained palette of greys, deep blacks, and clean whites do the visual work most aviation software neglects. The system reads as premium because it looks precise, not because it looks expensive. Corporate helicopter buyers respond to that distinction, and the case treats it as a design specification rather than a stylistic preference.
The result is a helicopter configurator built for people who already know what they want and need software fast enough to keep up, and a working reference for how aviation UX can meet luxury expectations without abandoning technical rigor.
